Horween Chromexcel Oxblood

The leather will age beautifully and is tough as nails. Horween CXL leather ages differetly from our other leathers in the sense that it ages more like a motorcycle jacket than a standard watch strap. It will slowly scoff & change texture on it’s surface. It will not remain nice and shiny, that defeats the purpose of this wonderfuly crafted & tanned leather. The Horween CXL straps are standard all offered unlined, as we feel that brings out the character of the leather to the best extent possible.

As per Horween’s official website: “Chromexcel is a combination tanned leather that undergoes at least 89 separate processes taking 28 working days and utilizing all 5 floors of their facility.  Needless to say, it’s complicated. […] Retannages are derived from tree barks, dyes and stains are derived from naturally occurring pigments, and it’s all mixed and applied using heat, steam, pressure, hands, and time.” Please have a look on their website for this most excellent blog post of theirs.

If you would like to order one, please follow this link for instructions.

A quote from Horween’s homepage:

“Made to this day with old world craftsmanship, modern Chromexcel carries on a long history of superior comfort and durability.”

Note that this leather will show natural markings & pores, if you want an ‘as clean as possible’ part of the hide, let us know and we’ll take that into account. Hereunder an extremely magnified view on the texture & character of the strap. Note that this is extremely magnified, these straps are very clean looking & extremely smooth to the touch:
